Concert Hall
2016
This project explored minimal surface panels and their applications in architectural design. The wall panel was designed based on Schwarz' CLP surface. These panels can be assembled into a wall with apertures facing different directions. The result is a dynamic wall that features a variety of appearances from different view angles.  Through introducing variations in the original panel, the facade of the concert hall was created to evoke a sense of musicality. A minimal-surface tube was created for both circulation and sightseeing, which connects all levels of the halls. The branches of the tube extend to meet the facade, where a large aperture matches the end of the tube and channels light into the tunnel space. The largest aperture marks the entrance of the hall. The facade also has double height apertures that introduces a variation of the pattern, where apertures that form and alternating rhythm are synchronized to resonate at the same phase.
